The Good Life

  • Listening to... Cell Phone's Dead - Beck

Homeroom: Mr. Cullen seemed slightly bewildered about the stack of green books that he had received in his mailbox.  I said, "That's the literary magazine."  He and Mrs. McFadden became thoroughly excited about it.  They want 20 copies.

1st Period, Sociology: We took the test on Gender and Age and then watched Family Guy.  I got a 104 on the test according to PowerSchool, and I was not aware that there was extra credit.

2nd Period, Advanced Pre-Calculus: We worked on HSPA practice pretty much the whole period.

3rd Period, Honors Physics: Mr. McBride was our sub.  Mrs. Hornibrook is not around because her father-in-law died, and she will not be around tomorrow, either.  Anyway, Mr. McBride amazingly got Adam to do work (not Fd, mind you).  It was unbelievable!  He did a problem!  I did four problems, which is more than I've done in a few weeks.  Then I got frustrated on #47 in Chapter 15, but it was the end of the period so I can work on it tomorrow.  Mr. McBride also altered the seating chart so that it is now accurate.

4th Period, Physical Education: We played kickball against Ms. Fassel's class.  We pwned.  I got a run.  Someone kicked a homerun while I was on third.  I think the bases were loaded, actually.  So booyah.  At the end of class I got him to sign off for my pass to the author visit tomorrow, which is during fourth period.  C-Way invited us and we're all gonna sit together like the AP II students we are.

5th Period, Honors English: We went to a presentation about HSPA, HSPA questions that we all want to ask but are too afraid to.  Mrs. Brumberg, Mrs. Naval, and Mr. Cullen made presentations about math, science, and English, respectively.

6th Period, Spanish Advanced: Sra. Dagostino gave us a quiz on the reading that we were supposed to do last night.  My notes were apparently insufficient.  Therefore I made up answers and for one I wrote "No recuerdo" because it was true.  I'm not concerned.  I mean, I have a 107 right now.  A 67 would, what, bring me down to a 101?  What a tragedy.  Gasp.

7th Period, AP History of Art: I asked Gabby when she came in if she had started her paper.  She had not.  We both discussed our struggles to find information.  Lauren had not started her paper, and neither had Mary.  Then Koosh came along.  I said, "Mrs. Cushane, are you sure you want to make the paper due tomorrow?"  She was like, "Well, I could make it due Monday."  And everybody was happy.  No.  That's an understatement.  We were overjoyed.  When Michelle came in, we told her, and she stopped, threw her arms up in the air, and spun around in elation.  Everybody was all smiles.  As a result, we all participated positively and enthusiastically.  We asked questions out of sheer curiosity.  Koosh didn't know what to do!  She didn't know some of the answers!  We had much fun and I'm sure this was the kind of class Koosh had been awaiting impatiently.  She always complained that she was the only one talking, and today we talked up an art history storm.

8th Period, AP U.S. History II: We played a review game in C-Way's.  I asked for American Trivia for my bonus question and it was about sports.  If I wanted a sports question, I would have selected Sports.  Anyway, the two teams tied so were are all getting two extra credit points on the quiz.  I got a 97 on my quiz from yesterday because I did not put how the federal goverment interfered with business.  I just wrote that they did.  But it was better than it could have been so that is good.

The meeting spot for the Girls Who Wander is Tina's locker once again, although it is evidently subject to change without warning.  First we went down to the school store because Trina never received the balloons that Kate ordered for her birthday.  Then we went up to SAVE.  Ms. Pancari had technical difficulties with her presentation.  Finally we had to go down to Mr. Parker's room.  Kate, Trina, and Tina wandered off instead of attending the presentation.  We had fun.  Ms. Pancari was excited that his room was so bright because it had windows and gushed over the "view."  She wants to steal his classroom.  The presentation was enlightening.  Next she will present to us how to make your home green.  No, that does not mean buying a green sofa.  Although I'm sure you could.
