Today when Danchop came to pick me up, I tried to open the passenger-side door, but it was stuck. Dan came out to get it open for me, while I put my bag away in the trunk. Then we went back in the car and headed off to school. It was difficult to see the lines for the parking spaces. As we approached Dan's parking spot, he asked, "Is that Kira's car?" in reference to Melissa's car. He pulled in next to it. I exclaimed that it was Melissa's car and that he was the wrong space. He grumbled that he couldn't see the lines. After Dan parked in the right space, he offered to get my bag and take it in so I wouldn't have to be so cold, seeing as I had made a poor footwear decision and wore my pink flats and no socks. I strolled into the building, but then I saw that Dan's hands were full, so I thought I should open the door for him. I pushed the door open and held it for Morgan, some other kid, and finally Dan. He gave me my bag, and I said, "You got snow on it!" He claimed that he dropped it in the trunk, or something, and snow fell on it. I told him he needs to be less clumsy. Then I put it on, and it was cold, and as we were walking down little B-hall, I suggested that the snow was melting on my butt, since it was quite cold after I put on my bag. Dan asked, "What do you want me to do?" I said, "Wipe it off!" He wiped off the remaining snow and stated that there was not that much on it. I said that it had already melted.
At the lockers, Kyle asked me to bring my Psych packet to homeroom because he had not done 44. Dimple protested that he had to help her with her Physics in homeroom. I said I would bring my packet and went to get my books through third period. I grabbed my Chem folder, Chem notebook, English folder, Lord of the Flies, and my assignment book. Dan came out of his homeroom and picked up my books for me. It makes him sad when I pick up my books by myself. Soon I went off to homeroom, and Kyle asked me for my Psych packet. I told him I forgot it. He did not think I was serious, but I was. So I said I would go get it, and he told me that it was really bad that I had forgotten because it was only a few minutes ago he asked. I got my Psych folder from my locker and returned to homeroom. Kyle reached over to get my packet, and I said, "I haven't got it out yet!" Then I pulled it out of my folder and gave it to him to copy 44. Then I tried to help Dimple with her Physics, which I thought was amusing. I was able to help here with one problem, in which ma = (mu)mg. The m's cancelled out, so it was possible to solve for a. I could not help her with any of the others, and I explained that I had failed that test last year in Physics. I got a 67, but with the curve, I passed.
After homeroom, it was time to head off to first period. Mr. Anderson told us that the last person out had to close the door. Kyle and I were not the last people out. I said that I was not going to walk outside, but still Kyle asked me why I did not go "that way," meaning toward the doors at the end of A-hall. Kyle turned off into E-hall for Banatomy, and I slipped into the Core to head off to Chem. I arrived in G-222, and Mr. Holmes was looking relatively dead at his computer. When Prachi entered, she told me, "I thought Mr. Holmes was asleep when I first got here!" Then Prachi wanted to go talk to Mr. Wright to see if he would be around 7th period, so she could do Physics 7th period, 8th period, and after school! She asked, "Do you think that is too much Physics?" I replied, "There's no such thing as too much Physics!" Soon class started. Mr. Holmes told us that he took a spill in the parking lot this morning. He said that the buses were just starting to arrive, and he wanted to get across the bus loop before they came, or else he'd have to wait for the crosswalk. However, he fell. He landed hard on his elbow, he said, and rubbed his elbow as if it still hurt. He said that he worried some other teachers who saw him fall, because they thought he hit his head. Later in the period, he announced that Mrs. Farrow emailed him, asking him if he was okay after his fall. So, everybody knew about it. Anyway, when class started soon. First we discussed when the Unit 3 test would be, and when the Chromatography lab would be. I want the test to be next Thursday, and a few others agree with me. Hopefully the class votes for the test to be on December 13th. Cait asked if "their" (meaning hers, Dave's, and Paige's) opinions would count, since they'd be down at Toys for Tots during 2nd period tomorrow. He told them to have an elf send their votes up. After this discussion, he said something about he shouldn't have to do any work because it's his birthday. I said, "It's not your birthday. Your birthday's tomorrow." He countered, "My birthday is this whole week!" He gave us some papers and yeah. The only real thing we did during today's double period was discuss intermolecular forces, such as hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole forces, and London dispersion forces. He went over the packet he had given us on Tuesday. Next he let us pick our problems for Homework Presentation #3. My presentation is on Monday. My problem is a VSEPR problem about some organic compound. We did a lot of nothing for a while. Prachi talked about calculus behind me like I understood. She spent a while trying to find a formula for something, when she didn't actually have to. I told Prachi about yesterday's shopping excursion with Dan. I said that Dan didn't know what shoe and pants size he wore, which was very sad. She said that perhaps guys did not pay as much attention, and I yelled at Mr. Holmes, who was in the back of the lab, "Hey Mr. Holmes, do you know what shoe size you wear?" He proudly said that he did. He wears a 10 and a half. At the end of the period, as we were leaving, I was still talking about this, and I explained to Mr. Holmes that Dan didn't know what shoe size he wore or what pants size he wore. Mr. Holmes said, "Well, pants size is harder! You know, some brands are different!" and blah blah blah. I said that he should know a general range.
In English, I sat down at my front-row desk, and Mrs. Sandusky was talking about her tissues with Vicks that she bought from BJ's when she bought our Skittles for Riddles and Skittles day. Jess, Katie, Doreen, and Matt put them up to their noses and said they were very Vicksy. At the start of class, Mrs. Sandusky asked us two questions: 1) How was the day off, and 2) How was the drive? Most people said they enjoyed the day off and complained about not knowing where they should park. Jess asked Mrs. Sandusky if she graded or Grendel tests. She had not. Jess muttered quietly to herself, "She's nice, but she's so bad with the grading!" Then there was Lord of the Flies discussion. We went over the whole worksheet about Chapter1, and then we took a reading check quiz on Chapters 2 and 3. Afterwards, Mrs. Sandusky put on the movie version of the novel. It was very different from the novel, and we only saw 5 minutes of it.
Then I went to Spanish. We took a reading check quiz on pages 120-122 of San Manuel Bueno, martir by Miguel de Unamuno. I only got an 85! Probably I missed what was the "worst thing someone could do to don Manuel" in this section. It must've been one random sentence that I didn't bother writing down. After the quiz, we got back our recorders, and we also got our next recorder assignment, an extra credit assignment, and our homework worksheet on pages 122-125. I worked on the homework for the remainder of the period, but I had to look up every other word, because otherwise I don't know what's going on. After class, I yelled at Dan for having his Physics book with him, in addition to his monstrous binder that has nothing useful in it, and some other book. He doesn't have Physics until 8th period! He is always carrying too much crap. I told him he looked ridiculous carrying so much stuff.
5th period was Psych, the stupidest class ever. Mrs. Handlon "checked" our homework completion, although she never actually looks at my packet. Then she asked people what theorist they liked in describing their personalities. Nobody knew any names but Freud. Then class got boring when the lights went off, and Mrs. Handlon talked about her family and their friends and went off on a tangent like always. I ate pretzels and may have dozed off, although I wouldn't have known. Near the end of the period, Kyle mentioned his grandmom who's in an old-folks home, and then Mrs. Handlon started to talking to him about that for quite some time after the bell.
Next I had to go to Marsha's. Boy, do I think Calc is stupid! We don't know anything. Marsha also changed on us how she's going to deal with Calc Math League. The other day, we asked if it could be extra credit, and she said, "Sure!" Then today, she's counting it as an actual grade. Nobody does well on the practice CML packets from previous years, so I don't know how she thinks it's okay that she grades it. Then we went over the homework assignment. She had written page 181 on the board the other day, so that's what I did. Only the problems she showed were from page 178! I do not know how others knew what page to do. I mean, who checks the eBoard? Seriously. Anyway, we went over the latest Calc Math League that we did. I got more right than the other ones, but we still don't know what we're doing. Tomorrow is the first Calc Math League, and we're all getting bad scores. At the end of class, I asked Dan if I could help him get organized today. He said he wouldn't have enough time because he had to read. Now that didn't make any sense to me, because it only takes 2 hours tops to read for English and Spanish, and so I became sad that that was his excuse not to fix his mess today.
Afterwards was finally lunch! Kyle and I did not walk through Quay Way because it was cold and snowy and icy, and so we were late. However, we are late every day. Kyle had "good" cookies today, but he did not have any Lil Milk. He drank the last one at night one day. Soon it was time to get popcorn. Kyle asked Cristina if she had the two dollars she owed him, but she did not have any ones. We had to ask the cashier lady for one dollar bills. Then we went to the popcorn machine because we're morons and got popcorn. Kyle called the salt "ionized" istead of "iodized" again, and I used the Purell hand sanitizer on the wall. The popcorn machine is gross and doesn't give us enough popcorn for $1, and we're really stupid for getting it every day. When the popcorn was done, we returned to the table, and I brought back napkins. The popcorn is not that good, and it is very "buttery" and gross. Towards the end of the period, Kyle reviewed his angular kinematics equation for his Physics minor that he got a 93 on.
In 8th period I did some work on my Spanish homework. However, the people surrounding me wanted to get ice cream from the ice cream machine, so therefore I decided I wanted ice cream, too. Lexie said, "We all look so cute, eating our ice cream." I said it was like in elementary school, when we had to stay late after lunch to finish our ice cream before we could go out to recess. Then I tried to do the rest of my Spanish homework, and only succeeded in making it to page 124. It probably wouldn't take so long if I knew what the book was saying.
After school was the first Science League meeting. There was a good turnout. I tried to explain quickly everything we do in Science League as people had places to be. However, I could not explain TEAMS because I had never gone. Sophomore year, nobody would tell me what TEAMS was when I asked, and last year, Mr. Wright told me to keep February 22nd open and never told me why. Anyway, there was team sign-up today, and there is going to be a test-off for Chem I and Physics II. Nobody is doing Chem II but me. It's really sad. Those stupid juniors in my Chem class don't actually like science, which is a shame.
